Ref No.:
DS-87
Name:
Penthouse Retro
Description:
Located 5 minutes walk from Dam square this corner apartment on the top floor offers a beautiful view on the canal called ‘Keizersgracht’ and the majestic church ‘Westertoren’. This area known, as the ‘Jordaan’, used to be home for the working class of Amsterdam for hundreds of years.
Nowadays this renovated part of the city centre is one of the most willing and attractive places to live in. The apartment is located in the Raadhuisstraat nearby Madame Tussaud – a five minute walk – and just around the corner of the famous ‘9 streets’. This cosy district is a Walhalla for those who love shopping, but don’t care for massive warehouses or malls. Just like the area behind the ‘Westertoren’ it’s known for quality boutiques, art galleries, original shops, nice bars and good restaurants.
Even with an empty wallet it’s a true pleasure to wander around and experience the hypnotising atmosphere of the ‘Jordaan’. Just across the street you’ll find the Anne Frank House and the Gay Monument, while the busses and trams stop in front of the apartment at the Spui.
Although situated on the top floor, this luxury apartment can be reached by an elevator. With one big bedroom (double bed), two sleeping-couches in the living room (for two persons each) . There is a third small room with a big wardrobe. It’s the perfect place for a group or family.
The spacious kitchen has all the facilities needed during your stay - with fridge, oven and microwave – and the bathroom has a shower. Just like the rest of the designers apartment all furniture is retro including a nice living room with TV actually makes you doesn’t want you to leave the accommodation at all.
The view from here is absolutely overwhelming and will make many people from Amsterdam more than jealous.
This accommodation requires a minimum stay of 5 nights during new years!

Lovely Place to Relax

We had a great time here, stayed for 3 nights and could have stayed much longer for sure. There were 6 of us sharing it, which is a bit of a squeeze could do with another double bed. But the lounge and chairs are just right for sitting around and chatting (or drinking etc) and taking in the great views. Would have been nice to have some form of grill/oven in the kitchen. i would defiantly recommend it to anyone/group of friends looking to enjoy Amsterdam in a more relaxed way, will go again in the near future. The owner/agent was very helpful and friendly when we arrived at 8.00pm, many thanks.

We had a great sejour in Amsterdam, and the apartment has helped. It was very lovely and comfortable. You can enjoy beers and an amazing view of the city when you're on the roof. The only criticism is that the toilets are on the landing, but they're clean and private!
Great place

Highly recommend for upto 4 people. A 15 minute walk from central station and 5 minutes to dam square. Very close to the best coffee shop grey area. Nice interior but not too nice you feel uncomfortable. Basic kitchen which was adequate. Lovely light with sun all day long from the large bay windows. The owner/agent was very friendly and when we arrived there was no dvd player as advertised, within 10 minutes he had obtained one for us, bought from a shop - great service! Deposit no problems on departure, everyone fears dishonest agents but we can vouch for this one. Opposite a supermarket which was handy when carrying heavy water and supplies. The 2 sofabeds were comfy and there was a 3rd sofa and plenty of cool seats. Great place.
Awesome apartment!!!!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 6 days in March and we adored it. We really like the atmosphere in Amsterdam and in this area especially. The apartment is very beautiful, it has all the space you need and it is also luxurious! We liked the fact that we could use the kitchen to make our own meals it we wanted to. There are many fine restaurants nearby but sometimes we just wanted to stay at home and enjoy our own apartment. The Directstay-staff was really friendly, the guy who checked us in had everything arranged very well and could also tell us some interesting things about the neighborhood and where to go partying! I would really recommend this apartment to anyone, since it's right in the centre but if you want to, you can also have a quiet evening at home.
